I'll build a house inside you. I'll go in through the moat. I'll draw three figures on your heart: one of them will be me as a boy, one of them will be me, and one of them will be me watching you run.
-- Wolf Parade

The Peach
Random Gentle Love Master (RGLMf)

Playful, kind, and well-loved, you are The Peach.

For such a warm-hearted, generous person, you're surprisingly experienced in both love and sex. We credit your spontaneous side; you tend to live in the moment, and you don't get bogged down by inhibitions like most women your age. If you see something wonderful, you confidently embrace it.

Your exact opposite:
The Nymph

Deliberate Brutal Sex Dreamer
You are a fun flirt and an instant sweetheart, but our guess is you're becoming more selective about long-term love. It's getting tougher for you to become permanently attached; and a guy who's in a different place emotionally might misunderstand your early enthusiasm. You can wreck someone simply by enjoying him.

Your ideal mate is adventurous and giving, like you. But not overly intense.

I found a coffee shop/internet cafe/knitting store in st. matthews today, which is quite possibly my favorite combination of things under one roof. I'm waking up early tomorrow morning to drink latte/do homework on my interenet-ready computer/knit (surprisingly enough). i'm puuuuummmped!

must work on art portfolio, must write lit paper, must make poster.

Bill has LSATS in the morning.

It's midnight and I'm home and there's nothing to do and I'm not tired. hmmph.

God loves the plagiarist.

In sleep, Cain always dreamt
the same thing.
He was on a boat
stringing teeth (his own) on thin floss
connected to sky and water.

They are fish -
(he knew)
those tiny thoughts
that flop around inside the brain.
sometimes benign,
sometimes
often returning hooked,
examined, thrown back again.

Cain always woke up with
raw fingers groping around
inside his mouth,
always afraid of finding
gaps and wet, gummy tissue
instead of the bumpy slick
pearls that disappear
and climb the ladder between
heaven and earth every night.

and so the story goes:
the Lord said to Cain,
It is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.

he knew that
losing teeth in dreams meant
death

but, God created humankind
in his image, in the image of God
he created them.

1/4/05 12:19 am - in honor of the new year

It is never too late to give up our prejudices. No way of thinking or doing, however ancient, can be trusted without proof. What everybody echoes or in silence passes by as true today may turn out to be falsehood tomorrow, mere smoke of opinion, which some had trusted for a cloud that would sprinkle fertilizing rain on their fields. What old people say you cannot do you try and find that you can. Old deeds for old people, new deeds for new.

last night i went to see the faint play at a venue called FROG on tottenham. the show was a lot of fun and the best part was that they had really good video footage going on behind them while they played. i got some ideas for the video art class i'll be taking next semester that i'm pretty excited about. i know i'm boring, but that's all i've got for now. lots of work in the next two weeks... then home from london. :(

Yesssss! That's an Oxford education for you.

11/3/04 12:32 pm - now it's W's turn Bitches!!!

Right, Now that the election has been offical decided by the Great and All-Knowing State of Ohio i think that a few prediction are in order for what will follow in the next 4 years. I'll stick to domestic issues seeing as it's pretty obvious that the rest of the world will be moving to the International Space Station any day now.

1. California suceeds from the Union, led by a coalition consisting of Tom Cruise( scientologists), Barbara Streisann (wack-o-s), and Ashley Simpson

2. Under a special clause slipped into the Patriot Act, Dick Cheney orders the entire Supreme Court to be Cryogenic Frozen to ensure that they are not killed by Terrorists...under the same clause Dick Cheney actually assumes the role of the entire Supreme Court and is sworn in with a bizzare cermony in which he flys into the national archive on a oil-driven broomstick and, after deficating on the FDR memorial, wipes his ass with the first 10 admendments (excluding the 2nd of course)

3. John Ashcroft is fired from his role as Attorney General....and instead is appointed to the newly created position of Dark Lord of Rightousness and Destruction

4.  Karl Rove is forced to resign as President Bush's newly appointed "Co-President" after he is discovered in the Rose Garden of the White House sacraficing virgins and knawing on the bones of children under the full moon.

11/2/04 10:13 am

The current time in London is 10:13 am. I thought it was 11:13 am. Damn time change, and I'm an hour early for class.

I'm absolutely exhausted. I just got back from spending the last 6 days in Italy -- Treviso, Venice, Florence, and Pisa -- had nothing for breakfast because I need to go food shopping, woke up an hour too early after getting home at 4am from a full day of travel, walked through the dodgy London rain for 30 minutes, forgot my umbrealla, and here I am. Soaked, hungry, and tiiired. But who can complain? Now I have time to grab coffee and some food (and stare at the cowboy boots i want with all my body in the store window across from campus), got to check my email, and I actually really enjoy walking in the rain (mornings in London are amazing no matter the weather).

Man, life is pretty fucking beautiful. and that's that.

10/18/04 03:46 pm

This morning Blake and I cooked an American breakfast for the Spanish, Mexican, Indian, and French friends we have accumulated whilst in London. It was adorable, and they loved it, and I made pancakes. Santaigo made fun of me the whole time because my first few pancakes were questionable... Blake fed me bacon as I cooked... and we taught the Indian girls how to make scrambled eggs. Enjoying such simple things can really be refreshing.

On Wednesday I am going to the Tate Britain with my art and society class, and then later in the day going to the National Gallery to attend the opening of the Raphael exhibit. I can't wait!

This weekend I think I am going to Oxford to visit Andy. I miss that kid fantastically, as always. Him, David, and I have been exchanging frequent emails full of hilarious intellectual banter. Here is the succession of greetings:

'You can't kill what's stronger than death
Dave'

'The Beer isn't too heavy your tounge is just too weak,
Watterson'

'Drinking it icy as hell, full of gravel and hate and blood, Yours truly,
David James Wildt the Barbaric Revolutionary'

'Coffee should be strong as hell, black as death and sweet as love
Watterson'

and finally...

'The Coffee is good, but the beer is free if your name is Kelli Ann Corney,
KelBel'

muahaha, we are oh so witty...
Don't worry, I give Andy plenty of crap about going to Oxford. I think I may consider going to grad school there... we ate dinner in Oxford last night on our way back from Wales and it was beeeautiful. I think I will try to work it into the five year plan...

On a side note: I might want to stay in London forever.

9/27/04 04:50 pm - education

Today was my first day of class.

Apparently, British education is not quite up to par with American standards, at least not from what I've found so far. In my literature class, we spent the whole two hours discussing what exactly a genre is. Many of the examples we used were films -- as in, when you go to the film store how are they organized? drama? comedy? mystery? How are each of these different 'genres' communicated through their medium? -- I must say, I felt as if I was back in high school... freshman year that is. You aren't exactly expected to buy your books, and the professors constantly acknowledge the fact that you'd probably rather be out having a pint (a beer) then studying or coming to class. Attendence rates here are about 40% as well, so whether you go to class or not doesn't seem to matter. At least the easy school work will leave more time for travel and enjoying the city.

Last night was very fun because it was the first time I had really got to meet the other people on my floor. I was absolutely amazed that a group of people so different and from so many diverse cultural backgrounds could just sit for hours and get along so well. It's not that I never acknowledged people with different lifestyles/heritages could have things in common, it was just a beautiful and personal reminder that 'no man is an island unto himself'. Humanity is quite a prescious thing, and it is too often that we forget to protect the whole of humanity rather than its smaller divisions. It was nice to feel so connected to others that are so unlike myself. However, these people are absolutely a riot. John is of asian decent but is born and raised british. He is an absolute sweetheart and the most proper and polite boy I've ever met. Santiago is from Mexico City and has the most keen sense of humor. He is witty and laid back and so easy to get along with. They are my two favorites so far.

I'd also like to mention the considerable amount of protesters I've seen here speaking out against Bush and the war. (Also, many with John Kerry posters I might add...) If I could ever figure out how in the heck to post pictures on this thing, I could show you some interesting images I have of it. Can someone tell me how to do that please?

alright, that's all the time I have for now.

I love getting emails!! *hint hint*

9/22/04 01:11 pm

Last night we went to an American Sports Bar... haha, it was amazing. As soon as we walked in, 50 cent was playing, and ESPN was on all the tv's. It's funny how americans clump together, however there were a lot of foreign people as well. Including -- two Latvian (?) boys [they are from somewhere close to Russia] one of which was wearing an all denim outfit with pointy black boots and was going to school to become an interior decorater... and he was straight, and EXTREMELY drunk. He was very entertaining needless to say. Lisa spent all night talking to this guy who was from Spain... only we come to find out later in the night that he is really from OREGON. hahahaha. She was really upset because she thought she'd made a foreign friend -- he did a fake accent and everything, she was ready to make out with him, but he turned out to be just another boring american. :( Oh well, no more american bars, thank you.

just realized i have to run!

cheers

9/21/04 04:52 pm - small bits of britain

-- walked so much my TOES got sore
-- realized that eating pizza with your hands is just not acceptable (must cut it up with a fork and knife)
-- bought my first legal beer in a restaruant
-- bangers and mash = mashed potatoes and sausage (a tasty treat)
-- american money isn't worth ANYTHING
-- george w. bush doesn't make a very pretty wax figure (but J.Lo does)
-- everyone dresses well
-- americans are VERY easy to spot in a crowd (i try to blend in - i've been asked for directions twice already!)

9/18/04 05:54 pm - hellooooo london

hello everyone!

just wanted to drop a quick note to let you all know i have arrived and am well. the city is beautiful and so cute and surprisingly clean! i'm in an awesome area of town -- so many streets and shops so close. i already ate italian sandwiches at a cafe outside, went grocery shopping at a market, and met other americans studying here. the one bad thing... my room is a prison cell. it is quite possibly the smallest room i've ever seen in my life. oooh well, we must make the best with what we have. i'll decorate it nice and make it very fun and livable. I don't have internet at the moment in my room, so i dont know how often i will be on the computer, at least for the next couple of days.

i must be off - it is raining outside already! let's hope the weather is nicer tomorrow!

9/17/04 01:47 pm - Farewell dear friends

In one plane ride and a mere 4 hours, I am British!

I will miss all of you dearly, email me your address if you already have not, and I will send you post cards!

9/13/04 01:38 pm

Only 4 days until I embark on my journey to the land of Brit's!

What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing?- it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-by. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.
